Veterans and Mesothelioma Exposure

Mesothelioma is one of the leading causes of cancer among veterans in the United States. The disease is more common in veterans of the era of the 40s until the 60s when asbestos use was widespread in the construction of military equipment. Mesothelioma is a cancer that forms as a direct result of continued exposure to asbestos particles. Following inhalation of asbestos particles find their way into the annals deep into the lungs where they become registered between tissues and cells. Here remain ant interact with those released by the body as a direct result of the irritation caused by asbestos particles and transformed cells surrounding cancer cells antibodies. This process continues until all of the lining of the lung is damaged.Unfortunately, mesothelioma is not diagnosed readily and many veterans are unaware of their condition until the disease becomes irreversible.Between the 1930s to the 1970s, the use of asbestos was common in many military buildings. As a result, veterans from all sectors of the armed forces who served in World War 2, Korean War and Vietnam now have after effects of asbestos exposure. The main exposure came from teams such ships, submarines and aircraft in which naval veterans asbestos insulation was used purposes.NavyUS have one of the highest rates of mesothelioma among U.S. veterans. Most of these people served in the shipyards where they were involved in building ships and submarines for use in the fleet. These vessels are tied to asbestos from one end to another, due to its excellent heat resistant qualities.Asbestos was placed in the walls, floors, and valve seals around the boiler. However, due to the lack of knowledge available at the time of the dangers of asbestos exposure, these people worked without fear of putting their orders out.ArmyAlthough used military members not to use ships or submarines during operations, this does not saved from exposure to asbestos. Asbestos was an inexpensive material that could be used in many applications. As a result, asbestos was used to build barracks sleep in many places abroad.Good insulation in cold countries is provided, however, as the war progressed, many of these aged buildings or were damaged by enemy fire causing asbestos particles are released into the environment. These side effects still exist for those who still live in war zones raped still using some of these buildings to live purposes.MarinesIt is a tradition for Marines who work closely with the Navy and most of implementation depends on the help of the Navy. As a result, these Marines are exposed to the same conditions of pollution in asbestos-bound ships. In addition, many of the buildings used by Marines while on earth were also built by asbestos products.Air ForceAsbestos is a relatively lightweight material that provides good insulation that was perfect at the time of use in aircraft construction. As a result of enrolling in these small rooms for extended periods during the wars and training, World War 2, Korea and Vietnam veteran drivers have earned the unfortunate message to be second only to veterans of the Navy with the higher rate of mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure
