Aspirin Reduce Risk of Colon Cancer Death
DOSAGE low aspirin regularly consumed colon cancer patients and lung before diagnosis tended to slow the progression of their tumors . Really?
According to the study authors , Yudi Pawitan , scientists already know aspirin is associated with a reduced risk of death for patients with colon cancer .
" We show evidence that it is also beneficial for lung cancer , and has both a protective effect , ie at the beginning and the end , " said Pawitan of the department of medical epidemiology and biostatistics at the Karolinska Institutet , Sweden , cited Newsmaxhealth .
However , the researchers say , this finding does not mean that everyone should take aspirin to ward off advanced cancer . Pawitan and his colleagues analyzed data from the Swedish Cancer and prescription drug that includes 80,000 patients with cancer of the colon, lung , prostate , and breast cancer .
One in four people with cancer of the colon, lung or prostate cancer regularly taking low-dose aspirin before diagnosis , usually one tablet of 75 milligrams per day compared with about one in seven breast cancer patients .
Furthermore , the researchers found 20 to 40 percent less for colon cancer and lung . However , breast cancer patients who took aspirin , the tumor spread to other areas of the body than those who did not take aspirin .
Then , according to research published in the British Journal of Cancer , the average tumor is smaller and less developed for consuming aspirin with cancer of the colon and lung , but not in those with breast cancer or prostate cancer .
" This paper confirms the use of aspirin is associated with decreased risk and better survival , " said Dr. Gerrit -jan Liefers , a cancer surgeon at Leiden University Medical Center , The Netherlands
