Bald Men At Risk Of Prostate Cancer
Men who experience premature baldness risk twice as big as affected by prostate cancer. According
to the journal Annals of Oncology published today, Wednesday (16/2), a
person who has high testosterone have long linked to baldness, and is
thought to be a risk factor for prostate cancer, which kills 10,000
people a year in the United Kingdom.
Current
researchers in France and Canada have found that those who experience
baldness at the age of 20 should be wary of prostate cancer in the age
to come. They examined 699 men middle-aged and older men, 400 of whom had prostate cancer and exposed other unprecedented 281. The two groups are matched so that they can be compared.
They were asked to recall the experience of the process of baldness during their lives. Five percent who have never been exposed to cancer claimed to experience baldness by the age of 20. Later, 9.5 per cent were affected by cancer. "The
age of 20 have a strong correlation with baldness and cancer risk,"
said Professor Philippe Giraud of the Department of Oncology and
Radiotherapy at the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris.
According
to Philippe, there are two reasons that connects it, early baldness and
prostate cancer trends are similarly due to genetic factors. Another reason, heightening testoterone can result in both, baldness and prostate cancer. Relationship could also be explained by the combination of these two factors.
However, the study did not examine the mechanism. Kate
Holmes from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, said the attack early
baldness is just one of the potential risk factors, other factors are
increasing age, family history, diet, lifestyle, and ethnic origins. "We don't want to become a man, am afraid because of the results of this study," said Kate. According to him, baldness is not the main factor that determines whether someone will be getting cancer or not.
