What Symptoms Does Stomach Cancer Have
Symptoms and risk factors of stomach cancer
As in the case of benign tumors, the initial symptoms of stomach cancer are very non-specific. This may delay diagnosis several months. The abdominal discomfort can be accompanied by nausea and vomiting, weight loss, fatigue and malaise, hence any abdominal symptom that is persistent over time should be investigated.
Later it may manifest other symptoms as major alterations in bowel movements (either diarrhea or constipation ), difficulty eating, bad breath , persistent cough and abdominal pain.
Physical examination in early stages usually does not reveal any hallmark. As the disease progresses it can be found in varying degrees nutritional deficits, pallor, and can even palpable abdominal mass.
The prognosis is better in adenocarcinoma, as in this survival is over 50% at five years.
