Lung Cancer sufferers in China Surged

An official data about the number of patients with lung cancer in Beijing, China rose sharply in the last 10 years was released. Pollution in Beijing is indeed bad, but local officials did not mention that pollution is causing lung cancer.

Beijing health officials say at least currently the population who experienced lung cancer more than 50% a decade ago.

They say smoking is the main cause, but the officials also acknowledged that air pollution as one of the factors. But the Chinese Government did not give any indication of what is the cause of increase in lung cancer patients.

Health experts in Beijing Cancer Hospital said patients who suffered from respiratory diseases are more likely to be affected by lung cancer. Xinhua News Agency cited a Beijing City Health Office said the number of patients per 100,000 recorded 63.09 in 2011 while in 2002 recorded 39.56.

In 2011, Beijing recorded a new lung cancer cases 7.999. Health services said lung cancer occur in men. (BBC)
