Study: Diligent Foot Press Breast Cancer Risk
Walking is one of the sports most simple and free of charge. In addition, the walk also has many benefits, such as reducing tension and drive away the stress.
Recently, researchers found the benefits other than by foot. As reported by the BBC page, walking for an hour a day can cut the risk of getting breast cancer significantly.
"We
are very pleased to discover that without other recreational
activities, runs only one hour per day is associated with low risk of
breast cancer in women," said senior epidemiological experts from the
American Cancer Society and Chairman of the researchers, Dr. Alpa Patel.
Research
published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers Prevention, & team
from the American Cancer Society says, this is the first time a
reduction in risk of breast cancer is specifically associated with the
walk.
The research followed about 73.615 women in two stages. First, in 1992-1993 and the second between 1997-2009. Respondents
are asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding their health conditions
and how much time spent walking, aerobics, swimming, watching
television, to read.
From around 73.615 respondents, 47 percent of whom say that walking is the only leisure activity. The
researchers also found, women who walk at least seven hours each week
had a 14 percent lower risk of developing cancer of the breast compared
to those who walked three hours or less per pekannya.
With this research, Patel advocated post-menopausal women to fill in spare time by foot. Meanwhile
the Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, Baroness Delyth Morgan,
said that the results of this research adds a row of evidence that
lifestyle plays a major role in influencing the risk of breast cancer.
"The
challenge now is how do we turn these findings into action and identify
other sustainable lifestyle changes that will help us prevent breast
cancer," said Morgan
