Women age 40 years are prone to breast cancer

Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Oncology ( POI ) Drajat Ryanto Suardi said women aged 40 years and above are prone to breast cancer .

" Women aged 40 years and over have an increased risk of developing breast cancer because the cancer journey takes quite a long time . Starting from the induction phase , in situ , invasion and dissemination , " said Drajat here on Saturday .

From the induction phase to the in situ could take 20 years . Then the invasion phase up to 3 years . " Only then entered a phase of dissemination or spread , " he said .

To that , he added , for women who are entering the age of the need to inquire , either by mammography or method of Clinical Breast Examination ( CBE ) performed a trained health worker .

" If the age is 40 years old , please do the examination for three consecutive years . Otherwise newly done every three years , " he explained .

Breast cancer can be caused by various internal and external factors ie .

Internal could be due to genetic or hormone estrogen . While externally could be due to biological , chemical , and physical .

" It could be caused food preservatives , cigarettes , and so on , " he said .

Meanwhile , Head of Sub- Directorate of the Ministry of Health Cancer Niken Wastu Palupi said cases of breast cancer based Health Research (Riskesdas ) reached 1.4 percent per 1,000 people .

To date, the drug has not been found to prevent breast cancer . Unlike the cervical cancer vaccine that has been found .
