The Herpes Virus, a potential Drug candidate for breast cancer and Ovarian
A team of scientists discovered a potential treatment for Italy healing ovarian and breast cancer. They
managed to develop genetic engineering results the herpes virus which
can block dissemination of ovarian and breast cancer. Scientists
believe the virus has been programmed not to mention harming human
beings and forms the basis for the treatment of cancer in the future.
Herpes simplex Virus (HSV) will attack the aggressive ovarian and breast tumors, which have more than one active Her-2 gene. The
Virus is injected in the body engineering mice with tumors of the
breast and ovary, significantly impeding the spread of cancer cells are
capable of. The spread of metastatic cancer or, as reported by the Huffingtonpost.com, is the leading cause of death in cancer patients.
Professor
Gabriella Campadelli-Fiume, leader of the research from the University
of Bologna, Italy, said, "many laboratories around the world are using
the virus as a weapon to attack specific cancer cells called onkolitik
virus."
According
to him, in addition to patient safety issues in the use of onkolitik
virus, clinical studies showed the virus onkolitik was only effective at
a fraction of the tumor. "Our Study is the first
to be reprogrammed herpes virus to enter tumor cells and other cells
not infected yet still retain the capacity for the destruction of the
virus herpes simplex."
The
research is reported in the online journal Public Library of Science
Pathogens include viruses that prevent the spread of the tumor through
the abdominal cavity. Despite the spread of
cancer to the brain and ovaries was greatly reduced, the herpes virus is
not able to protect the lungs from cancer.
