New Techniques Handle Found Threatening Leukaemia
Center The Peter MacCallum Cancer Research in Melbourne , Australia , introducing new techniques in dealing with malignant type of blood cancer leukemia . The new method uses a " double barrel " and is expected to extend the life blood of cancer patients .
The enzyme changes shape known as JAK2 , is known to trigger and support the germs that are resistant to treatment .
" Not only JAK2 is growing rapidly and the tumor is spread everywhere , but are also often resistant heat generated from chemo therapy , " said Professor Ricky Johnstone , assistant director of the institute risetpada .
" These enzymes are very difficult to handle because of its speed spread , in addition, also can not be dealt with regular chemo , " he said .
However , the method is applied to the double -barreled proven successful in treating malignant leukemia type experiments using mice .
Professor Johnstone said , " If the tumor cells look like a tree , and see the JAK2 protein as tree roots , we want to do is target the tree at two points . Firstly , cut all the leaves with one drug and then scrape out the root system , and more importantly tunggangnya roots " .
According to him , the best way to kill the tree is the dual approach . " Trimming the leaves , root out , and then scrape out the way of the tree to survive , it means turning off tumor cells , " said Professor Johnstone .
The researchers hope this method can already be applied to a malignant type of leukemia patients in the coming year .
