Omega-3 in fish can lower the risk of breast cancer
A review of research concluded that women who consume omega-3 fatty acids in high amounts can reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Researchers from China precisely analyzed 26 international research involving 900 thousand women, including 20 thousand of whom are suffering from breast cancer. Researchers then found that those who consumed omega-3 fatty acids from fish have a 14 percent lower risk for cancer.
Unfortunately, the intake of omega-3 derived from plants did not show the same efficacy, such as that reported by Live Science.
Omega-3 fatty acids themselves are polyunsaturated fats that are often referred able to maintain a healthy heart and brain and ward off various types of cancer. Salmon and tuna are some examples of fish that are rich in these nutrients.
The results of the study are reported in the British Medical Journal.
