Reduce the risk of colon cancer with Aspirin
Aspirin
is consumed continuously able to reduce 60 percent of colorectal
(bowel) cancer in people who suffer from illnesses that come down to us.
According to The Lancet, a journal report late last week.
Research
conducted in a long period of time and using a sample of this vast,
strengthens other evidence that aspirin can protect the colon and rectum
cancer.
The
study involves a number of people with Lynch Syndrome, a genetic error
that changed the makeup of the cells that cause a variety of cancers,
including colon cancer.
As many as 35 patients are divided into two groups randomly. One
group taking two grains of berdosis 600 mg of aspirin every day,
another group taking a pill, or placebo, also referred to as little as
two years. Then their colon checked.
When the data is examined first in 2007, there is no difference between the two groups. But everything changed when the researchers examined the data that go back several years later.
Until
that time, there were 34 cases of bowel cancer in the placebo group,
while the Group's aspirin just 19, or 44 percent less than the placebo
group.
The doctor then did further examination of the 60 percent of patients taking a placebo and aspirin for more than two years.
Results of research sub-groups were more impressive. There
are 23 people with bowel cancer in the placebo group, and only 10
patients in the Group of aspirin, or 63 percent less compared to the
placebo group. The difference was recently seen after five years.
From these findings, further research needs to be done to see the dose and length of time in taking aspirin.
"In
the meantime, doctors clinics should consider prescribing aspirin for
all people who contracted the disease at high risk of bowel cancer, and
taking the right steps to reduce side effects," said research leader
John Burn, Professor of Clinical Genetics at the University of
Newcastle, United Kingdom North East, in the journal.
Last
year, a study also published in the journal The Lancet found that the
number of patients with cancer of the colon, prostate, lung, brain and
throat is diminished due to the consumption of aspirin per day. For colon cancer, the risk of over 20 years reduced by 40 percent.
Many doctors recommend using aspirin regularly to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other blood circulation problems. However, the use of aspirin constantly can cause side effects in the form of abdominal pain.
