Soil Bacteria Used as Drugs Cancer & Tumors

A number of scientists from Britain and the Netherlands tried to develop a method for treating cancer and tumors using Clostridium sporogenes ( soil bacteria ) .

Clostridium is one of the bacteria that normally live in the soil , or living in a low oxygen levels . The researchers used the character of the bacteria to maximize task killer drug for cancer cells in the body , as quoted by the BBC .

Before entering the bacteria into the patient's body , the researchers will conduct genetic engineering of bacteria to produce specific enzymes that have the ability to activate a cancer drug that is consumed by the patients .

Based on the deepening of the researchers at a conference at York University , spores of the bacteria that will grow in the patient's tumor . Spores only grow in solid tumors that have low oxygen levels such as breast , prostate , and brain tumors .

This finding is the result of decades of research that is useful to look at the possibility of Clostridium maximize cancer drugs work . " This is an entirely natural phenomenon , which does not damage other healthy tissue , " said Professor Nigel Minton of the University of Nottingham .

The study leader , Professor Nigel Minton said , Clostridium is an ancient group of bacteria that live only in minimal oxygen conditions . " We can dig this kespesialisasian to kill tumor cells but keep the other networks remain safe , " he said .
