Two-thirds of cancer cases could be prevented
In an official report from the Centers for Disease Control , the United States , a lot of improvement in the fight against cancer . The death rate from the disease was said to have declined by 1.5 % percent per year over the last four years .
Seeing the numbers decrease , it is indicated by the experts that two-thirds of cancer cases could be prevented .
" We know that a third cause of cancer caused by smoking , " said Dr. . Jon LaPook to news anchor Scott Pelley , when he was a guest speaker in the CBS Evening News . " Another third are caused due to obesity and lack of exercise . So two- thirds of cancer cases could be prevented . Obesity was associated with cancer of the esophagus , colon , kidney , pancreas , uterus , and breast . "
As the news reported by CBS News ( 29 / 03 ) , obesity can increase the risk of cancer , because the fat in the abdomen allegedly capable of producing excess hormones estrogen and insulin which then causes cancer . Therefore , if the main cause of cancer , such as smoking and obesity , can be prevented , then the number of deaths from cancer will decrease.
